Adjudication and Selection Process

Distinguished Artist Award recipients are selected through a nomination and adjudication process.

A Call for Nominations will be issued by the Board of Directors of the Foundation every second year (odd-numbered years), approximately six months in advance of the Awards Gala.

Any Albertan or Alberta-based organization may nominate an artist or group of artists for a Distinguished Artist Award.

Eligible nominations are adjudicated by a panel of three artists and/or builders familiar with the arts in Alberta. The panel may recommend up to three recipientsto be considered by the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Arts Awards Foundation.The Adjudication Panel are convened and supported in their deliberations by staff of The Banff Centre.
