Gala tickets go on sale

The Allied Arts Council of Lethbridge, in partnership with the City of Lethbridge is proud to be hosting the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Distinguished Arts Awards on June 6, 2015. The awards are Alberta’s most prestigious recognition of outstanding achievement in the arts.

The event will include a Gala Performance and Awards Ceremony directed by Jeremy Mason, featuring musical performances by Edmonton‐based R&B/Jazz singer/songwriter Nuela Charles; and Calgary‐ based Hip hop/spoken word artist Transit. Lethbridge‐based dancer and choreographer Troy Emery Twigg will also be presenting a dance performance. “The show will be an eclectic celebration of Alberta talent, and we’re really looking forward to presenting a high quality production,” says Mason. A celebration dinner will be held at the Lethbridge Lodge following the awards ceremony. Adding to the celebratory evening will be pop‐up art experiences by local performance, visual and culinary arts artists.

“We are excited to showcase Lethbridge to the many arts supporters attending from all over Alberta. We are also delighted to welcome RBC, a company respected for the RBC Emerging Artists Project, as the Signature Partner for the event ” says Suzanne Lint, Allied Arts Council Executive Director. “The arts create vibrant communities and strong economies,” says Mark Brown, regional vice president with RBC. “That’s why we believe in investing in the arts in this province is one of the most important things we can do.”

In addition to the signature sponsor, there are also several other opportunities for local businesses and supporters to partner in the festivities.

As in past awards celebrations, a legacy project will be introduced. Lethbridge’s project will be an emerging artist festival, providing artists aged 18‐35 a chance to present their work, learn career development skills and network. The festival known as Soar Emerging Artist Festival will become an annual event.

Members of the public are invited to the Gala performance and dinner. Tickets and packages will be on sale beginning March 5 from the Allied Arts Council; 403‐320‐0555 or www.artslethbridge.org.
